Diana’s Observations:
Kawoq, the nawal of the collective and rainstorms, converges with the force of law, authority, and agreements today. This energy encompasses both the fruitful accords of personal and societal relationships, as well as the challenges and disputes between groups and individuals.
Within the Trecena of Tz'i, reflecting 10's power of rectitude and law, this day strongly emphasizes the qualities of righteousness, security, and fairness in relationship dynamics and society as a whole. Kawoq also represents the staff of authority in the home, held by the woman who oversees family matters and unity.
This day invites us to contemplate the health of our relationships, from family outward. It mirrors our personal growth based on cooperation. Whether our connections are distorted by dishonesty or flourishing through love and authenticity, today highlights the balance, or need for it, in our interactions.
Today offers an auspicious moment for honesty and vulnerability, and to seek or offer support to others. Shared experiences and insights interweave with our own, reminding us of our interconnectedness and that we're never truly alone in our challenges. Kawoq's divine lightning symbolizes sudden revelations that can illuminate our understanding of collaboration in personal and professional realms.
Kawoq embodies the strength of unity, through which humans experience growth and abundance. It emphasizes family and community working towards common goals, and in its positive aspect, transcends selfishness and destructive ego-driven patterns. The overarching influence of Tz'i reminds us to maintain order by correcting behaviors, eliminating vices, amending errors, and revealing truth.
10 Kawoq underscores collective well-being and the resolution of disputes, allowing the staff of authority to prevail – both internally and externally. This day aligns us with “the highest good for all”, in harmony with natural law.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
10 Kawoq
The nawal Kawoq is the nawal of the female healer. Yesterday, we saw the masculine aspect of healing, Tijax, combined with a feminine energy. Today, the female aspect of healing combined with the number of community and cooperation.Whilst Kawoq has a connection to Chak, the rain god, it also has a connection to Ixchel, she of the rainbows. She is grandmother, and it is this caring energy of a grandmother which is manifested through Kawoq. She is the goddess of medicine, and a midwife goddess, fulfilling the other aspects associated with Kawoq. This is a day of both giving and accepting help, once again particularly from women.
This is a day to both offer and ask for a helping hand to steady the passage through the storms of life, bringing new life and growth both personally and to your community. Compassion and understanding bring healing to our communities and allow the new born, or our own rebirth, to emerge and flourish. –Mark Elmy
10 Kawoq
Today, we can take a moment to observe our connections: with our lineage, our friends, our partner, our coworkers. Let us learn to observe and forgive ourselves when we have erred, forgive others if they have hurt us, and open ourselves to receiving the lessons that have emerged from these relationships. This is a moment to be with ourselves, without illusions. We are not doing this to judge or condemn, but if we do not look with awareness, it will not be easy to reach the healing and harmony we seek.
We are all in a process of evolution. We all make mistakes, and at times, we act from fear or limitation. The Tz’i’ trecena reminds us of the autonomy that allows each of us to walk our own path, with our vision, our ways of facing challenges, and our own lessons. So, as we observe our relationships in this cycle, let us do so with empathy and love. –Denise Barrios
Tz’apin Q’ij – The Third Closing Day:
“The third closing day focuses on acceptance. If you are using these 5 days to close the solar year, it is a good day to understand what you choose to accept from the previous solar year. It is also a day which might highlight what you cannot accept.
Here we see this third closing day combined with a powerful feminine nawal, that of Kawoq. She represents the energy of rainstorm, of the birth of the new and the midwives. Kawoq is dedicated to bringing new life, but also has a tough love. She will make sure we get through the process, but also she will ensure that we go through the process.
Today we might ask the question “what we have accepted and what we can no longer accept?” –Mark Elmy
“As we are walking through these days of Tz’apiq’ij, Lajuj Kawoq calls us to reflect on our relationships. Its energy reminds us that we are part of a greater whole, walking this human experience together, and that much of our evolution happens collectively. What we see in others and the way we treat them is also a reflection of how we see and treat ourselves—our relationships are a space for growth.” -Denise Barrios
”This day is dedicated to Acceptance. After the Review and the Recognition, having clarity about what and who we are, we now begin to accept, point by point, what we are, what we do, how we do it, why, and for what reason we are at this point in our life. The recounting in this present moment is the most important, and if we manage to go into detail, so much the better. It is not about making a judgment but about recounting and accepting our current state.” –Carlos Barrios (Full Teachings for the Wayeb')
Turtle Spirit Animal:
”Patience”, “Wisdom”, “Longevity”, “Nurturing”, “Protection”
The turtle is a significant spirit animal in both Mayan and North American Native traditions, symbolizing Mother Earth, longevity, and protection.
Turtles are seen as guardians of the earth, embodying resilience and the ability to endure life's challenges. Their hard shells symbolize perseverance, serving as a reminder of the strength found in grounding oneself and remaining connected to nature.
The turtle also embodies the qualities of patience and introspection. It teaches the importance of taking life at a slower pace, encouraging individuals to reflect on their journeys and appreciate the present moment.
This slow and steady approach to life allows for deeper connections with oneself and the environment, for a sense of peace and stability.
