Kej: Embodying stability and balance, Kej is the nawal of the four cardinal points of the Earth and represents the four primary elements of earth, water, fire, and air.
It also carries the four states of the human experience and the four colors of humanity: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual, and the colors of yellow, white, red, and black.
On Kej days, the Maya pray for harmony throughout the natural world and among all human beings–these are propitious days to ask for strength to avoid betrayal and handle the difficulties in our lives. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Today’s 11 Kej potentiates the dualities of stability and instability, integrity and dispersion, firmness and spontaneity. Kej embodies strength and spiritual authority, symbolizing the profound balance inherent in nature and the power that shapes humanity's destiny. Power 11 is inherently dispersive, capable of inciting tests, chaos, and valuable lessons that guide us in cultivating both spiritual and mental order.
As we progress toward the culmination of the wisdom-bearing No’j Trecena, today’s 11 Kej may empower us with the mental strength and focus needed to sift through our ideas, projects, and goals, ultimately leading us to effective solutions. However, this energy may also bring challenges in the form of distractions, impulsive behavior, stubbornness, and conflicting thoughts.
While both energies are dynamic, 11 Kej embodies a fusion of two orientations: one that is focused and resolute, and another that is spontaneous and scattered, yet open to new experiences. These contrasting essences can either amplify or diminish our strength. Today encourages us to seek stability and resilience where necessary while tempering our determination with organized, clear, and steady direction.
Challenges on Kej days often manifest as domineering tendencies. Within the Trecena of No’j, today serves as a reminder to remain flexible in our ideas and humble in our approach to problem-solving.
No’j too can embody a perceptual rigidity that may lead to ego-driven conflicts; thus, today’s tests may teach us to manage our egoic impulses and reflect on aspects of ourselves that reveal the trickster mind—the one that believes it knows everything—ultimately fostering spiritual growth. This day encourages us to explore and expand possibilities beyond our fixed perspectives to contribute meaningfully to the collective pulse of evolution.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
11 Kej
The strength of the nawal Kej combines with the strong and directionless energy of the number 11. This is a day to be aware of the strength of actions and which direction they are heading towards.
From the idea of Kej representing either a deer or a horse (as it is translated in modern day K’iche) this could be seen as a stampede, all that force and energy in no particular direction. This is a day where you may need to be more aware than usual of what is going on around you and prepare to take evasive action if necessary.
It is a day to be aware of your own determination towards making something happen, awareness of the strength you may be working with.
Are you really aware of the direction in which it is taking you?
This is certainly not a day to attempt to tame the wild within or in others, but a wandering in the forest may provide strong experiences which you incorporate at a later time. If you do choose to walk in the wilderness today, follow your instincts rather than a set path.
You may find new strength in your discoveries. –Mark Elmy
11 Kej
The force of creation manifests in favor of those who do not conspire against others.Kej represents balance and strength; it is the deer with one leg in each of the four directions, the energy that maintains equilibrium. Julajuj brings learning and evolution; under its influence, perfect experiences arise for our path. Today, these energies gather in the No’j trecena, the mind as a tool, the power that shapes our reality.
The energetic convergence of this day calls us to transit frustration, competition, and resentment, thus no longer inhabiting the shadows. It invites us to focus on love and harmony, on sharing and integrating, to heal our story, and to live in connection with nature and all the energy that creation gifts us for our full and loving evolution. –Denise Barrios
Stag Spirit Animal:
“Masculinity, Regeneration, Guidance, Alertness, Psychic Power, Strength”
The stag is a symbol of vitality, elegance, instinct, maturity regeneration, and spiritual enlightenment. Among the animals, the male deer is revered. They are wise and seasoned with huge antler crowns on their shoulders that they’ve conquered in life.
The male deer are reclusive in nature, and this makes them appear out of nowhere only when we need them the most. A stag can also be seen as a symbol of strength, power, and authority. The deer’s antlers emblems of male fertility. They are often considered to have wisdom beyond their years due to living longer than human beings.
Stags respect boundaries and laws set by humans so they remind us about our social obligations, duties, responsibilities, time, and schedules. We may feel the stag spirit animal is showing up in our lives to remind us about some of these things, so we need to pay attention to where boundaries are set and follow them without question.
Stag symbols show up when we need to act on our instincts and trust ourselves in order to get through life’s obstacles. We should not let fear guide us, but rather follow the stag totem and spirit animal guides’ path of strength and power with courage.
How can I balance my determination today with a willingness to be receptive to the influences and opportunities around me? In what ways can I enhance the strength of my plans and commitments while staying open to spontaneity and growth?
