Ajpu Glyph: This glyph signifies the face of the hunter who uses a blowgun. He has a beard, and his mouth is rounded, about to shoot.
Ajpu is overcoming negative energy. It is the victor, the male, the man, the boss, the spiritual warrior, the hunter, Jun Ajpu, and Ixb’alamke. It is the day of Ajaw, the Great Father, and his solar representation, a day of greatness and the strength of life.
Ajpu governs lunar and solar eclipses and represents the ball game. It brings material and spiritual certainty. It is the realization of the solar body. It is transformation, mutation, and acuity. It is the warrior, the companion, the traveler, the dancer, and the artist, maker of wonders.
It is the soothsayer – the diviner and vanquisher of spells – the lord of flowers, master and heir to the power of light. –Carlos Barrios
Diana’s Observations:
Ajpu–nawal of the warrior, hunter, visionary, and artist moves today with the duality of Power 2. Ajpu, symbolized by the sun and eclipses, maintains balance between forces of light and shadow—a theme heightened by the polarity of 2’s energy. On 2 Ajpu, we witness the ongoing dance between certainty and uncertainty, truth and illusion, stillness and movement.
As we begin our journey within the fertile, creative, and socially renewing presence of the Kawoq Trecena, 2 Ajpu brings forth its vivid contrasts, illuminating the first stage of Kawoq’s birthing process. By encountering and understanding the opposing forces at play, we can begin to awaken the mind, clarify our vision, and open pathways to new states of consciousness. The energy of 2 highlights the importance of relationships, collaborations, and the decisions that shape this unfolding path.
The artistic and versatile qualities of Kawoq are heightened today by Ajpu’s radiance, drawing out the gifts of artists, musicians, observers and communicators. In union with the energy of 2, this day evokes the creative expression and talent that arise from seeking harmony and divinity within the tension of opposites. 2 Ajpu invites us to cultivate curiosity and neutrality, expanding our receptivity to opportunities concealed within what we perceive as challenges.
While 2 calls us to pause and choose consciously, Ajpu’s solar wisdom illuminates a path true to our gifts and inner light. As Kawoq teaches us that adversity and conflict offer fertile ground for security and renewal, Ajpu’s ecliptical nature encourages us to transmute ego-driven desires in favor of the group, family, or community. By courageously questioning which traits we’re ready to sacrifice within ourselves for collective well-being—and by aiming our will toward our highest ideals—we transform relational challenges into milestones on the path of the spiritual warrior, opening ourselves to the wonder of authentic awakening.

Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
2 Ajpu
We judge what is around us, we discern between what we consider to be “right” and what we consider to be “wrong”. However, all of creation came from unity, came from oneness.Sometimes it is very difficult to see the divine plan in all things. The energy of the combination 2 Ajpu helps us to understand the bigger plan, to see that behind our judgement a longer term plan is in motion. The energy of the nawal Ajpu sends us on a quest for the divine in the physical world, it helps us to see the love put into the world. Here in the second aspect, it gazes back at us.
The trecena of Kawoq is birthing us into our new world, and here we see with the wonder of a newborn, marveling at the beauty of the world around us. This beauty may be enhanced by the choice of another soul to share that journey with us.
We are choosing to see the divinity in duality, to embrace and celebrate our differences as part of the one. –Mark Elmy
2 Ajpu
We have learned to experience life through the duality of opposing energies, perceiving things in black and white instead of recognizing the perfect unity in which each part contributes to our expansion. What would happen if we were to look only at our light, creating the idea that we are perfect? If we consider ourselves perfect, there is no more need to grow, we become stagnant. On the other hand, what if we only focus on our shadows and the problems we face? We might lose sight of the tools and potentials we possess, feeling lost and resigned. What if we understand that we are whole in our lights and shadows, in our moments of happiness and of challenges?
This perspective allows us to recognize that we are perfect beings and, at the same time, we are beings in constant growth, with the possibility to improve and enrich our life experience.
Keb’ Ajpu provides us with the clarity and strength to integrate our personal energy and achieve a harmonious whole. The trecena of Kawoq reminds us that we are part of that whole, and as we heal and grow, we expand this energy to others. Meditating with the power of the Sun can guide and support our work today. -Denise Barrios
