K’at: Within its vast body of meaning, K’at signifies the Net, in all of the diversity of senses of the word: a fisherman’s net, a woven net of fruits or vegetables, a network, a spider’s web.
In addition, it is the patron of storerooms and pantries and refers to the gathering of resources; and finally, it carries the concepts of captivity, punishment, social traps, and lawsuits.
K’at is the nawal of fire, namely that which keeps a home running, and of prisons both visible and invisible, material and intangible. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
The nawal of "the net," K'at encompasses a powerful duality: it represents all immaterial and material resources we've gathered for our growth and development, juxtaposed with the entanglements and burdens that can accompany these collections. Today, this dichotomy is magnified by the dual influence of Number 2 and the overarching energy of Aq'ab'al, both of which accentuate themes of duality and the interplay of opposites.
This day presents us with choices and potential tests within our material and immaterial collections, challenging us to untangle and release that which no longer serves us. It calls for a careful assessment of the potential born from our commitments and attractions towards certain people or things. 2 K'at within the Aq'ab'al Trecena is an invitation to choose liberation from the obstacles that burden our spirit and hinder our sense of freedom.
The attributes of Aq'ab'al and Power 2 strongly highlight partnerships and marriage. 2 K'at offers an ideal opportunity to bring clarity to unresolved issues and release any dead weight within our bonds and relationships. Today encourages reflection on the obligations and decisions that have shaped certain unions, considering their long-term consequences – both positive and negative – for our personal growth and renewal.
This day brings our attention to the health of our partnerships and the nature of our attractions, prompting intentional movement towards freeing ourselves from thoughts, consumptions, obligations, and accumulations – both physical and mental – that don't align with a sense of hope, optimism, and renewal.
It offers a propitious opportunity to pause, replenish, and carefully analyze any necessary sacrifices required to shed excess burdens and untangle ourselves from energetic traps. With calculated effort and discernment, we not only avoid hasty decisions but refine our moment-to-moment choices in releasing what we've outgrown, paving the way for renewed potential and a clearer path forward.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
2 K’at
The energy of the nawal K’at is usually seen as rather favorable, particularly when it comes to collecting things. When these are the things that sustain us, this is of course highly beneficial. However, it is bundling, bringing things together and holding them tightly in one place. For this reason it is also the nawal of prisons, burdens and ensnarement, where we become ensnared in the nets of others.
Whilst all the energies of the days have both beneficial and challenging aspects, K’at can be particularly extreme. The number 2 is said to represent duality and polarity, and here we see it combined with those aspects of K’at.
The number 2 is also said to represent lovers, relationships and self sacrifice, and it is those areas that the energy of K’at which may be highlighted today. This may be a day to look at the sacrifices you make in life and what they represent to you.
With the dualistic aspects of the energy of the number 2, we also get to see from opposing points of view. The nawal K’at helps us to gather these different points of view, which can give a more rounded idea of situations, which may in turn result in abundance and sustenance for all involved.
As we move through the trecena of Aq’ab’al, which does have its romantic aspects, this could be a day to focus on your lover and to truly hold them close. Alternatively, if you are looking for a new love, this might be a good day to see who you are drawn to and who is drawn to you. –Mark Elmy
2 K’at
The energetic confluence of the day invites us to remember that we have the freedom to choose whether to stay entangled in the way we see our story or to grow from it.We are not here to turn something that was “bad” in us into something “good”; rather, our purpose is to integrate every part of us: our emotions, our experiences, the heritage of our ancestors, our history in all its diversity… so that we can live in completeness and unity with all that we are.
Every part of us shapes that perfect and beautiful being that we are. By accepting and integrating all our parts, we can experience a life of harmony and fullness, recognizing that we are already enough, that we are complete in our essence. –Denise Barrios
Lizard Spirit Animal:
“Regeneration”, “Amputation”, “Releasing Harmful Aspects” , “Breaking a cycle”, “Fresh Perspectives”
One characteristic defining Lizard’s meaning is the fact that the creature sheds its skin, much like a Snake. Shedding marks an increase in the reptile’s size and allows Lizard to rid itself of parasites. So, both Lizard and Snake come to symbolize physical, emotional, or intellectual growth and the act of leaving behind what you’ve outgrown.
The second behavior highlighting Lizard Energy is self-amputation and regeneration.
While on the surface, the action sounds awful, it’s a self-defense mechanism so Lizard can get out of a predator’s grasp. Over time, the Animal’s tail grows back, but often smaller and sometimes in a different color.
Holding on to old habits or outworn beliefs hold you back from achieving good health, happiness, or success. –Bernadette King
