Kan: Associated with the mystical Feathered Serpent, Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl, it is one of the most powerful day signs in the Cholq’ij.
As the Regent of the Sky and the Ruler of Time, Kan symbolizes the transformation of time, transcendence, peace, spiritual development and human evolution, and represents those predestined for spiritual vocations.
Yet it is also the lord of all material things and represents the concepts of work, autonomy, precaution, power, law, intelligence, and justice.
As the nawal of education and training, it signifies the power that learning imparts to individuals and communities.
[Kan] embodies a powerful connection with the inner fire, called koyopa among the Maya and kundalini in Eastern traditions. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Kan—the nawal of evolution and wisdom—merges today with the equilibrating, conclusive energy of Power 7. Evoking agile, serpentine movement and the rising current of life force, Kan catalyzes growth, transforming all it encounters. Resonating with 7’s moderating and expansive perspective, this day highlights reflection, harmonizes viewpoints, and closes chapters of understanding.

Snake Spirit Animal:
The snake is a powerful symbol of transformation and regeneration. It has been revered worldwide as an emblem of life force, representing the potential to heal from within and emerge stronger than before.
The appearance of the snake spirit animal often marks the beginning or end point in our journey towards growth – when we are called to navigate challenging times with newfound strength. Allow the snake to be your guide on the path of personal transformation and inner healing.
It is also associated with fear and deception that can cause to shy away from change or create mistrust in relationships. Ultimately, the snake is a powerful spirit animal that encourages us to take control of our lives and embrace change for growth. –Elena Harris
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
7 Kan
The energy that flows through us brings us power. If we were using it to heal and connect our community, it may reveal one type of wisdom. If we have been using its power to manipulate and distract, it may reveal a different type of wisdom. Today we reach the pinnacle of our power, and learn whatever lesson our use of it has brought to us.
From our vantage point at the top of the pyramid, we are able to see in all directions. This is a day which may bring the end to a certain illusion or manipulation, particularly by those who use their power to deceive, as we are able to see past what they are showing us.
Maybe you have learned through experience, that there is a way you have been using your power that no longer serves you. Equally, it may be that you know if you choose to use your energy in a particular way, it brings peace to your family and community.
In which way will you choose to engage your power? –Mark Elmy
7 Kan
Everything we put our energy into becomes part of who we are. That is why sometimes we need to check if we are still aligned with what we are choosing. One of the ways I learned what Ajaw Kan means was when an Elder told me that we can think of Kan as that prayer that becomes a miracle, that thought that turns into action, that action that becomes reality.
Kan is our power to bring everything to its highest potential. This Ch’umil, represented by the snake, also speaks to us about transformation. It is the process of shedding our skin. The number Wuqub’ reminds us of the drive and action we need to reach our goals.
The energy convergence of this day invites us to check if it is time to rise to another level, to review what we believe in, where we place our energy, and who accompanies us in life. Is everything still aligned with our energy and serving our purpose? Let us remember that to transform ourselves, we need the courage to take action on those things that are coherent with who we are. –Denise Barrios
