Diana’s Observations:
Today, the essence of inspiration, respiration, and winds of change converges with Power 8, embodying balance and decisive action. This day's purifying breezes transport us into vibrant landscapes of revitalized expression, marking an especially inspiring day for writers, teachers, and communicators.
Iq’ brings change to society just as it empowers us to speak, carrying our voices on the wind. This emblematic symbol shows that ideas and narratives are the true building blocks of society, shaping our culture. Our thoughts and words are seeds with the power to transform and renew the world around us. It’s only the limiting beliefs we carry that prevent us from making use of their true power.
As the life-giving breath of Iq’ harmonizes with Tz’ikin's prosperous essence, this day amplifies renewed enthusiasm for our projects, relationships, collaborations, and the dreams we're bringing to life. 8 Iq’ reminds us of the boundless creative potential within the human mind to shape and transform reality.
Traditionally, 8 Iq’ is celebrated as a day to express gratitude for all creation, Creator and Former, the breath of life, and the power of the word. Combining this essence with the good fortune gathered from the Tz’ikin Trecena, today's energy can be beautifully channeled through vocalized gratitude for the blessings we've received. This expression of gratitude can be shaped by the "flower words" of broader Mesoamerican culture—poetic utterances and emotional intelligence that honor life itself.
On this ceremonial and artistic 8th day of the Tz’ikin Trecena, ideas, prayers, and words carry a rejuvenating potency, inviting us to craft new structures and visions through our personal expression. It calls us to first establish equilibrium within ourselves, so that our thoughts and words may be used for healing and nurturing wholeness.

Hummingbird Spirit Animal:
”Opening the Heart”, “Inspiration”, “Renewed Hope”, “Living in the Moment”
The hovering movement of Hummingbird is a potent message about being in the moment and enjoying life’s nectar. Overall, Hummingbird as a spirit animal represents flexibility (our ability to accept and implement change), lightheartedness, and joy.
Another attribute Hummingbird provides as a Power Animal is flexibility. Don’t be so firm in your thoughts that you miss something slightly outside the box. -Bernadette King
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
8 Iq’
The eighth day of the trecena is the most widely recognized day of ceremony, and the ceremonies today are to give thanks for the many qualities attributed to the nawal Iq’.It is also a day to recognize what the passing of the breath of life through our throats brings, that is communication. Iq’ days are wordy, days to receive and transmit messages, especially when they are of deeper meaning. These are days when your words are empowered by the divine breath, sometimes you might not even recognize the words you utter.
They are messages for others, not from you but through you. These messages bring change and therefore life, and today is a day to show gratitude for them.
The day 8 Iq’ can be seen as a day of communication, where inspiration may come to you in a truly useful, practical way. –Mark Elmy
8 Iq’
Much is said about the power of the mind, about the creation that comes from our thoughts. Many people believe that this knowledge has emerged in these times, but since the origin of the human being we have been aware of this creative force. However, and although it may seem a contradiction, we have lost the essence of the power of thought, its creativity, because of so much thinking and giving space to academic knowledge. Today there is a cult to reason and the most important aspect, the essence of the power of thought, has been left aside.
We have no idea how a thought originates, we know that the synaptic neuronal chain is generated by electrochemical discharges, that is to say, an interconnection of millions of our brain cells that outline and originate a thought, an idea.
But we are not aware that there lies the real power, in having control of this action and directing these ideas. That is called creativity and it is the principle of shaping reality, it is because of this power that the elders define us as “creative beings”. Iq’ is one of the Ch’umilab’ that opens the space for us to understand, perceive, and create our own reality, to control and direct our thoughts.
Ideas and images are the basis for this.
We must begin by holding an idea, a single image, that is to say, a thought, because in the western world we have such a level of dispersion that our mind jumps from one thought to the other without control.
We must learn to control and direct our thoughts. When we achieve this purpose we can, through concentration (directed meditation) begin to create our reality.
The power of the mind, the imagination, has no limits and these are transformed into your reality. –Carlos Barrios
