We always have the option to choose what we think, we are the ones who decide whether we remain trapped in something or seek freedom, we are the ones who create our reality. –Denise Barrios

K’at Glyph: The glyph signifies the energy of gravity. It is represented by the sphere, trapped in the groove at the bottom, which divides the base into the two magnetic poles. –Carlos Barrios
K’at: Within its vast body of meaning, K’at signifies the Net, in all of the diversity of senses of the word: a fisherman’s net, a woven net of fruits or vegetables, a network, a spider’s web. In addition, it is the patron of storerooms and pantries and refers to the gathering of resources; and finally, it carries the concepts of captivity, punishment, social traps, and lawsuits.
K’at is the nawal of fire, namely that which keeps a home running, and of prisons both visible and invisible, material and intangible. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Today, K’at—nawal of gathering and release—spins its web in symmetry with Power 8, weaving action and sacrifice as one. Signifying accumulation and entanglement, K’at tests with obstacles and offers pathways of liberation on our path. The qualities of collecting and letting go are energized by 8’s masculine force, lending direction and willful resolve. On 8 K’at, sacred action and sacrifice unite to solve lingering issues and lighten what we carry, transforming material and immaterial excess into joy and freedom.
As the point of unified spirit and matter within the intellect-forming Trecena of No’j, 8 K’at metaphorically evokes the plots and fabrics of all we have woven together in our net of memory, skills, resources, and connections to design the solutions and liberation we seek. It shows that every thread of intention and action gathered—our joined efforts and mindful alliances—serve as building materials for spiritual and material advancement. It also calls for focused effort and labor in releasing binds and attachments that weigh down the creative process.
Symbolizing the cycle of seed, crop, and harvest, K’at reminds us through the teachings of No’j that all we cultivate begins as thought and intention. Like a net, K’at gathers the lessons, experiences, and memories we weave through life. Empowered by the steadfast energy of 8, it calls us to gratitude and purposeful labor: tending what nourishes our highest aims, while consciously releasing scarcity thoughts, burdens, and entanglements that limit our mission.
In its darker aspect, the magnetic and material qualities of today reveal how the very acquisitions and resources that once brought clarity and momentum can become burdens—manifesting as debt, entanglement, or confusion. This convergence poetically reminds us that the cost of true achievement, resolution, and success lies not only in the focus, energy, and resources we add, but in the clarity to recognize what is ripe for release. In this, the architectural wisdom of No’j teaches that lasting abundance is built not by accumulation alone, but by the deliberate design of what we willfully choose to carry forward.

Spider Spirit Animal:
The Spider spirit animal in ancient Central American cultures was a potent symbol of creation, weaving, and the feminine power that binds the cosmos. Depicted in the art of some early great civilizations, a powerful Goddess figure was often associated with the spider, representing the Earth, water, and the dark realm of the underworld. Her act of spinning a web was seen as an allegorical creation of the world, with the threads representing the interconnection of all life and the weaving of destiny itself.
The spider’s eight legs were sometimes connected to directions or cycles of time, reflecting profound cosmic order. Invoke the energy of the Spider when you need to spark creativity and skillfully manifest your dreams into reality, to develop patience while observing opportunities, or to consciously weave new connections in your life.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
8 K’at
The nawal K’at also represents capture, whilst the positive aspect represents harvest and abundance, the darker side represents entanglement and prisons. This is not just those outside of ourselves, but our ability to get caught in our own nets. This is a representation of our own attachment to the physical things which sustain us within our physical body. Whilst this abundance might serve us well, over attachment to physical goods may distract us from our true life path. The same may be true for situations or people, it does not just have to be physical objects that create the net which holds us back.
K’at days give us an excellent opportunity to understand what is stopping us from achieving our dreams, and setting ourselves free of it. Every day is a good day to be grateful for the abundance you receive in life, but today is of greater importance. It is a day on which ceremonies may be made to celebrate harvest and all that comes from it, to give thanks for the ability this gives us to fill the bellies of our families.
It is also a day to give thanks for your freedom and to release anything which is holding you back. Wholly embrace it or set it free. –Mark Elmy
8 K’at
To create something different in our lives, we must first believe in something different.Today, K’at emerges under the influence of No’j, the energy that guides this trecena, strengthening the power of our minds. On this day our thoughts carry a unique strength, especially affecting the physical and material realm, which is manifested by the number Wajxaqib’.
The energies of this day invite us to release the limitations our minds have created and to shape the reality we dream of. They remind us that healing starts within: to transform our physical bodies, we must heal our emotions; to attract abundance, we must feel abundant, full of gratitude; to create a reality filled with joy, we must nurture the thoughts that make us happy.
The work of transformation always begins within, from where all that we are expands outward. –Denise Barrios
