Tz’i is spiritual law and the law of man. It is the guardian of material and spiritual law. It represents those who govern on a local or national level. It represents spiritual authorities and the straight path. It is justice and the day that brings truth to light. It symbolizes fidelity, order, and precision and is represented by the cosmic authorities whose energy is on the Earth, whether in the form of people or places.
Tz’i also means dog, which acts as a secretary, assistant, and adviser. This is the Creator’s representative on Earth who is in charge of applying and enforcing justice. –Carlos Barrios
Diana’s Observations:
Today’s 8 Tz'i symbolizes a harmonious synergy of material and spiritual authority. Tz'i embodies divine, earthly, and social law, extending to the individual level; our authentic self guiding our deeds through conscience, instincts, and personal sovereignty. The energy of 8 governs the material realm, masculine potency, and the arts, signifying executive action, intentional power, and the creation or maintenance of functional structures.
Building upon yesterday's 7 Toj influence of atonement and gratitude practices, today's qualities of accountability and order in action offer another opportunity to restore balance by bringing truth to light – especially through practical matters. It encourages us to honor our lives through unwavering commitment, calling us to align our acts and commitments with spiritual and moral conviction.
As the Trecena of Aq'ab'al reveals clarity and new concepts through the laws of duality, today’s 8 Tz’i can ignite passionate loyalty and dedication, energizing our capacity to illuminate shadowed aspects of our lives. This day may highlight acts of self-betrayal or unchecked habits that create imbalance and dysfunction. The key is to bring order through personal accountability, dignity, and honor, especially by being true to ourselves first.
8 Tz'i within the Aq'ab'al Trecena teaches that our spiritual communion with our higher self, especially through the power of the word—be it prayers, writing, or documenting—can help us establish not only the order we seek but also reveal new potential. This practice allows us to tap into the light of clarity and revelation that Aq'ab'al offers.
Ultimately, 8 Tz'i guides the quality of our steps and behaviors in our routines, rituals, bodies, profession, and exchanges with others, especially in relationship dynamics. It is a day to express gratitude for the justice and fairness present in our lives, and to nurture our intuitive and instinctual growth.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
8 Tz’i
Today is the day of ceremony for the nawal Tz’i. It is a day on which we can ask to be forgiven for succumbing to our vices.
The loyalty and trust towards ourselves and others should be celebrated today. Sometimes both may be tested. We lose our faith in something or are tempted by something out of alignment with our values. Perhaps we need to lose those things to celebrate finding them again. It is also a day which highlights legal matters, this would be a good day to wrap up any legal proceedings, the energy of nawal Tz’i applying the wholeness of justice to the situation.
It is a day to give thanks for the application of natural justice. The laws of nature must be adhered to or applied, it’s a good day to ask that the unjust are brought to account for their deeds.
To love unconditionally requires us to embrace all aspects of those we attach ourselves to. –Mark Elmy8 Tz’i
Today, Wajxaqib’ [8] Tz’i’ reminds us of the importance of recognizing our strength in the physical realm and the masculine energy that resides in each of us.As we approach B’elejeb’ [9] B’atz’, the celebration that marks the balance between the material and the spiritual, between the feminine and the masculine, Wajxaqib’ Tz’i’ reminds us that our true power arises when we elevate ourselves to the subtle and spiritual, without forgetting our connection to this physical plane, which we walk as an opportunity for our evolution.
The greatest magic of our feminine side unfolds when we also embrace and honor the masculine.
May tomorrow, with the arrival of the energy of B’elejeb’ B’atz’, complementing the energy of Wajxaqib’ B’atz’ we recently celebrated, find us embracing our completeness, opening ourselves to the feminine and spiritual, without forgetting how fundamental the masculine and material are. –Denise Barrios
Dog Spirit Animal
“Awareness”, “Loyalty”, “Power to Protect”, “Fidelity”, “Unconditional Love”
Dog medicine has a different meaning than wolves; they represent loyalty. It is an animal that has been uniquely, genetically domesticated by humans. The totem medicine for dogs is legitimate in meaning but its medicine has been disciplined into it by humans, and thus has altered its wild metaphor.
The dog is a servant to another creature, which is noble and universally selfless. It has become dependent as an exchange. Serving others is a means for increasing happiness as well as achieving goals such as resources, education, or partnership.
When dog totem comes to you, remember where you have placed your allegiances, ask yourself how dependent you are, and how balanced your exchanges are.
It may be time to become loyal or serve another as long as the trade-off is fair, honest, and clear.
It is a reminder that loyalty is healthy when it increases the autonomy and sovereignty of our being. -Brynja Magnusson
What unchecked habits or behaviors might be creating imbalance in my life, and how can I address them with accountability and honor? What is being illuminated for me about 'fairness' at this time? How can I use the power of words—through prayer, writing, or documenting—to gain more clarity?
