9 B'atz: Weaving Harmony, Honoring The Feminine & Creativity
Energy of the Day for February 27, 2025
After receiving the new year on Wajxaqib’ B’atz’, which is perceived as a birth of the physical manifestation of this reality, we go through forty days of integration, much like a mother after giving birth. Now, having traversed these forty days, we arrive at B’elejeb’ (9) B’atz’, another significant moment within our Sacred Calendar’s count of time. Balance and unity between both energies now take form. –Denise Barrios

B’atz Glyph: The top part of the glyph is a cone that has time rolled up in it. The cone descends to a triangle, which represents our dimension, and then to the sphere of the Earth, passing through the angles, which are the two polarities; masculine and feminine. –Carlos Barrios
B’atz symbolizes evolution, movement, motion, and development; initiation, affirmation, and favorable divination readings; intelligence and wisdom; and especially marriage and pregnancy.
B’atz is the nawal of the arts, artists, and the art of weaving, and as such, represents all concepts and elements of life related to art and weaving, from time itself–called by the Maya “the thread of life”–to the life-connecting umbilical cord. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Traditionally, on this day, the Maya people honor the creation of woman and the feminine essence in nature, nurture, family, community, and territory. Today 9 B'atz enters as the significant, female counterpart of 8 B'atz, the initiation of the 260-day ritual count and ceremonial celebration of the Sacred Calendar.
9 B'atz weaves a new pattern; a complementary balance to the masculine, material, active and physical polarity of 8 B'atz. This continuity influences wholeness by harmonizing masculine and feminine polarities.
As we move through the Trecena of Aq'ab'al, governing duality, polarity, and transitions, this completing, 40-day balancing effect centers us within the Mayan cosmovision: prioritizing balance and harmony. As an energy of fertility, gestation, and cycles, 9 B'atz infuses our lives with imagination, insights, and the creative power to realize our dreams and aspirations.
While the Trecena of Aq'ab'al signifies the marriage of polarity, B'atz represents the deeper purpose behind this union: the continuity of family and lineage, as the very reason for uniting man and woman in marriage. Metaphorically, this suggests that 9 B'atz is the energy that not only harmonizes our internal polarities but also gives a larger meaning to this harmonization. It empowers us to fulfill our destiny through the dedicated pursuit of spirituality, artistic expression, refined emotional intelligence, and creative problem-solving.
As the energy of beginnings, this day encourages setting goals for the next 20 days and is particularly favorable for healers and artists. As we set new patterns from our aspirations, today's subtle, creative properties can help us develop emotional intelligence into mastery. This day also warns against entanglement in unnecessary complications and outdated emotional patterns.
With Aq'ab'al’s overarching influence and the 40-day progression from 8 B'atz to 9 B'atz, the sacred union of polarity and the alchemical process born from our masculine and feminine aspects are strongly emphasized.
Our masculine hemisphere structures chaos into order, while our feminine hemisphere nurtures these structures with love, beauty, and connection. May our new beginnings be nourished by rest and receptivity, weaved with awakened passion and purposeful activity.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
9 B’atz
40 days ago we received the Cholq’ij new year under the auspices of Wajxaqib’ -8- B’atz’, a day in which the power of the material plane and the Sacred Male energy are manifest. After receiving the new year, as the physical manifestation of this reality was born, we began walking a period of peacefulness and integration related to the forty days following a child’s birth.
Now that we have transited these 40 days, we arrive to B’elejeb’ -9- B’atz’, where the more subtle and spiritual planes manifest and the Sacred Female energy becomes present, so that a balance and unity of each complementary energy occurs.
This reminds us of the magnificent dance of the opposites, acknowledging the wholeness created by the male and female, physical and spiritual, mental and emotional, which are all essential parts of each human being. –Denise Barrios
9 B’atz
The day 9 B’atz is a day of celebration of feminine creativity. It could be seen as the weaving of life and the ability to bring beauty into the world.Weaving is a predominantly female pastime, it is also seen as one of the most important. It is a physical representation of the world’s creation by bringing together the male warp and the female weft to create the fabric of reality. Women may choose to weave in the external world physically, yet they are also the weavers of life itself.
The gestation process within them could be seen as the weaving of a new human life. Here we see the specific reference to the number 9, the number of life and the lunations of gestation. B’atz also represents the process of gestation.
This is, of course, is the most sacred and essential of all of our activities. It furthers our existence and this is exclusively the realm of the women in our world. This is a day for women to honour who they are, to embrace their femininity and creativity. It is a day of celebration of female Aj Q’ij, Maya day keepers. Whilst this day may be a day of the women, it is also a day to embrace the feminine creativity. –Mark Elmy
