I'm Opening A Circle
Developments, Announcements + A Communal Offering from Diana
With blessings from the four directions and excitement in my heart, I’m birthing a new iteration of Walking the White Road! I warmly invite you into my process, revelations, and a new, communal offering I’ve been weaving for all of us.
Dearest friends and readers,
For some time now, through my studious practice here on Walking the White Road, I’ve noticed a consistent and heartfelt interest in the Mayan Sacred Calendar—the Cholq’ij—serving as a powerful ally for our self-knowledge and evolution within its rhythmic, cyclical movements.
I want to thank each of you who share this passion, for your thoughtful comments, questions, and ongoing readership. It really warms my heart each day!
While the Cholq’ij holds many layers and uses within its rich tradition, my focus has been on sharing and interpreting the daily energies for personal development. This is how I have applied its wisdom over the past years.
While this living library began as a resource for my own interactive study, I’m continually amazed and grateful that hundreds of you have joined me on this journey.
Announcement: The Sacred Permission
Last December, I received an insightful Tz’ite reading from Denise Barrios, beloved and respected Ajq’ij (Mayan Spiritual Guide).
For those unfamiliar, Tz’ite seeds come from the coral tree (Erythrina berteroana), known as “palo de pito”, which grows across Central America, northern South America, and parts of the Caribbean.
Within the K’iche Mayan tradition, these seeds are sacred and kept in a pouch, together called “Pisom Q’aq’al”, bestowed upon Ajq’ijaab (Spiritual Guides) as a lifelong companion—referred to as their trusted, spiritual spouse.
They use Tz’ite seeds for divination, supporting others on their life path and decisions with clarifying guidance.
During my Tz’ite reading, I asked two questions:
1. Whether I had permission and was ready to form an online community and facilitate workshops on personal rituals guided by the Cholq’ij;
2. About another personal endeavor related to my spiritual path and training.
Denise interpreted the seeds’ answer to the first question as a green light—an opening on all four of my bodies: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—to cultivate a Cholq’ij community and form personal ritual workshops.
The response to the second question revealed that I’m halfway there, with openings on my emotional and spiritual bodies, but more time and work are needed on my physical and mental bodies before I’m ready to proceed in that area.
This beautiful process of communication through the Tz’ite clarified how the Ajq’ijaab serve as mediums for a higher intelligence. Denise emphasized that the insights and authorizations granted through the Tz’ite seeds and Mayan fire ceremonies ensure that no human bias or misconception influences the guidance received.
Since receiving this permission, I’ve been gathering ideas and patiently awaiting the right timing to bring this vision to life. I don’t take this mission lightly; I want to ensure it not only resonates with my heart but is also fully supported by the spirit guardians of this tradition, my state of being, and my own nawales.
The Signs Are Clear
Recently, half a year after my reading, it’s become clear that the time to materialize this pursuit is now.
Beyond the initial “openings” for this communal endeavor, the Tz’ite reading revealed specific dates—divided into four parts (bodies), each containing three nawales (day signs)—some of which fell within the previous I’x Trecena (the 13-day cycle I was born in), and more within the current Kej Trecena we’re in now. I only recently discovered this extraordinary timing connection.
Messages from some of you interested in forming a community or seeking guidance on personal rituals with the Cholq’ij have also been circulating in my field. Invitations to share and facilitate on other platforms have come my way as well. Together, these all signal that the time for materializing this communal dream is now.
With the blessing of right timing, I am now ready to give and share what I feel has matured at this stage of my work with the Cholq’ij.
Study Group: A Space to Learn & Thrive Together
I would love to create a dedicated space where we can learn from one another, share how the Cholq’ij’s wisdom is unfolding in our lives, and simply connect heart-to-heart—seeing each other’s faces and feeling the collective momentum of this study and path.
The intention for this study group is to form and activate No’j: a Council of Collective Wisdom.
As I prepare to facilitate our study group and tend to all the organization it requires, I’ll be observing and selecting an auspicious Cholq’ij date for our first virtual circle. Our group will meet periodically, so we can truly get to know one another, enrich our knowledge, and witness our growth with the Cholq’ij in a supportive, familiar environment.
Invitations and details will be shared here in the newsletter (and website! More on that below).
*If you’re interested in participating in these circles, please leave a comment below or send me a private message. Your response will be hugely helpful in organizing this endeavor.
One important note: I’m based in Mexico, so all meeting times will be scheduled according to Mexico City Time (Central Time Zone). Because of this, the meeting hours may not be ideal for those joining from the other side of the world.
Another note: Many of you have received your natal Mayan Cross and follow this Substack to deepen your self-knowledge and personal cycles with the Cholq’ij. If you don’t know your natal cross yet and are curious, you can receive your Mayan Cross Reading with Denise Barrios here. If you speak Spanish, I also have other great options for Mayan Natal Cross readings in my Ajq’ij network.
Looking Ahead: Workshops on Personal Rituals
Guided by the experiences and insights gathered from the study group, I also plan on launching future workshops focused on personal rituals rooted in Mayan spiritual traditions—covering meditations, prayers, altar space, date selections, and deepening your connection to your nawales through the Cholq’ij.
Denise has graciously entrusted me with this vision and offered valuable, traditional guidelines from the Mayan K’iche lineage to support you on your path.
Also, I’m close to completing the official WTWR website! I’ve designed it to facilitate the registration process and offer more about my path, the Cholq’ij, and offerings. I’m thrilled to soon be inviting you into my official online home!
Maltyox! A big, heartfelt thank you for being here and for walking the Saq’ B’e—The White Road—with me. Solar love and blessings to you on this 11 No’j day. More exciting updates to come!
In light and service,
Diana Paez
