Kame Glyph: The glyph signifies death and is represented by closed eyes and a closed mouth. The circular line represents the cycles of reincarnation. –Carlos Barrios
Kame symbolizes the eternal present and the sacred cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Though its name means “death,” Kame represents the transformation of energy and is received as a beneficial nawal. Uniting closure with surrender to the unknown, Kame embodies the sacred balance between endings and new beginnings.
On Kame days, ancestors are remembered and genetic lineage is honored, inviting their guidance and protection. It is a time for reflection, forgiveness, and gratitude for those who came before us—a day dedicated to seeking ancestral wisdom and strength, and to accessing spiritual knowledge. Kame is also seen as a doorway—by facing our fears and discomforts, we open new and uncharted dimensions of understanding and growth.
Kame also embodies peace, luck, and protection. Harnessing its energy helps us complete cycles and discover new openings to self-mastery, enhancing our ability to transform challenges into spiritual growth. Every ending is a new beginning, and by embracing this natural flow, we open new possibilities for ourselves and for future generations. –Diana P.
1 Kame
Today is Jun (1) Kame, kicking off a new Trecena (13-Day cycle theme).
1 is birth and beginnings.
This cycle invites us to find closure where needed and create space for fresh starts filled with harmony, vision, and wisdom. As a symbol of peace and dissolution, Kame encourages forgiveness and letting go, freeing ourselves from past burdens and correcting harmful actions.
Reflecting on our own mortality can open new doorways to understanding our life’s deeper meaning and purpose. It is also a time to seek guidance and protection from ancestors and higher beings. Lighting candles for loved ones and offering prayers for safe journeys are meaningful ways to honor and connect with them.
This is an auspicious time to ask our ancestors to accompany us during our existence in this body, and for clarity and support in reaching our goals. By committing to self-mastery, closing old cycles, and surrendering to necessary endings, we open new doors for both spiritual renewal and practical advancement. –Diana P.
Kame Mesoamerican Mythos:
[Excerpts]
"Kame relates to death, which often makes people nervous. However, this nawal is seen as an extremely positive day. Birth is the gateway into the mortal life, death the gateway into the eternal. In many shamanistic traditions, the initiate goes through several death experiences during training. This can be through the use of particular herbs, or sometimes through accident or illness. In these experiences the density of the mortal realm falls away and the greater understanding emerges.
–Mark Elmy, The FourPillars.net
"In the Pop Wuj, the Hero Twins must undergo a series of challenges placed upon them by the Gods of Death. They fail to pass the tests, and are killed as a result. In time, the second pair of Hero Twins, children of one of the first pair, once again play handball, and once again are summoned by the Death Gods.
But these Hero Twins are clever; they outwit their challengers and survive to play the game. But the Gods of Death don't play fairly. They cheat at the game and the Hero Twins lose their lives as a result.
But once again they outwit the Lords of Xib'alb'a, the Underworld, for they are revived by a magic spell, and they return to trick the Lords of Death, sacrificing the sacrificers and thus conquering Death itself."

Owl Spirit Animal:
Owl can see through the dark and glide silently to what it needs. Not only does it see through darkness, but its vision extends to distances far beyond what we can imagine comparative to human sight.
Owl medicine comes when you need clarity regarding the future; when you need light shed on an obscured event. It is a blessing to be graced by the reassurances of an owl call.
Owl medicine is a guidepost to remind you that even though it may be dark, the path is still there. We are encouraged to continue in the direction that serves our soul, especially when fear and darkness blinds us. –Bryjna Magnusson

Again the turn of this wheel is aligned. Yesterday at the start of this cycle, I spent part of it in ceremony at at ancient stone, the Chiding Stone, which was a meeting place for the villagers of a beautiful ancient village in Kent. A branch of .my direct ancestors where from this village in the
1700 and 1800s..I stood in the stone and welcomed them.as part of the opening ceremony of a drum, voice and rattle healing session with a dear girlfriend as we both invited in new beginnings and release of the old.
