K’at means ‘the net’ or ‘network’; all that we collect, gather and unify. It embodies both the blessings of fertility and abundance, as well as the unconscious accumulations that can trap, ensnare, and weigh us down. This nawal presents tests that can help us untangle ourselves from self-imposed problems or those imposed by life for our own growth, liberation, and learning.
K'at is also gatherings and reunions, embodying the essence of magnetism and multiplication that can result from coming together; forming communities, societies, friendships, unifying people and cultivating a sense of belonging. It represents the warmth and strength found in our hearts, as well as the domestic fire that nourishes our homes and sustains us.
It signifies both the metaphorical and literal container in which we collect and store all things; resources, skills, relationships, experiences, memories, behaviors, habits, and therefore also signifies traps, burdens, heavy load of karma, and the unconscious hoarding of the material and immaterial that can entrap and enslave us. –Diana P.
Today is Jun (1) K’at, kicking off a new Trecena (13-Day cycle theme) .
1 is birth and beginnings.
As we approach the Cholq'ij New Year, the Trecena of K'at encourages us to untangle and unload excess by making necessary sacrifices, freeing ourselves from entanglements and unnecessary responsibilities.
This is a propitious time to both set intentions for a prosperous harvest and to shed the old by removing obstacles and solving problems that hinder our freedom. It presents opportunities to heal familial bonds, illnesses, and ward off poverty and misunderstandings, making room for clarity, growth, and abundance. By applying conscious effort to these areas, we can enter the new year with greater freedom and clarity.
During this cycle, we can focus on seeding, gathering and cultivating what serves our highest potential, releasing burdens that limit our growth and prosperity. It's also a time to pray for and support the liberation of those imprisoned, whether physically or spiritually, and to promote healing and liberation through the untangling of complexities. –Diana P.
K’at Mesoamerican Mythos [Excerpts]:
”The sign is corn silk, which can cure various ills. We are offered it as a sign of plenty if we know to make offerings to our Creator. The image is one of incense in its wrapper. When we open the offering with our hands, we are clearing away the obstacles that prevent us from succeeding. This sign brings life’s tricks and tests. It’s the spider web, rewarding patience. The lizard that represents this sign, like the pregnant iguana, symbolizes fertility and longevity. Represented by a fish, it is another sign of abundance relating to the fishing net and symbolizes the rebirth of the mythical twins Jun Ajpu and Ixb’alamke as fish.”
–Carlos Barrios, The Book of Destiny
"At its best, the day sign K'at represents the abundance of corn in Blood Woman's magical net; this is indeed a day sign of abundance and potential prosperity."
-Kenneth Johnson, Mayan Calendar Astrology
In this story we see the relationship between Blood Moon and the nawal K’at, the creator of magical abundance and a bountiful harvest. This was the gathering, the bringing together of the family through this harvesting, where we also see the seeding.

Lizard Spirit Animal:
“Amputation”, “Regeneration”, “Creativity”, “Adaptability”
The Lizard spirit animal holds significant meanings across various cultures, particularly in Mayan and Northern Native American beliefs. In Mayan culture, lizards are often associated with the concept of transformation and renewal, reflecting their ability to shed skin and regenerate.
This regenerative quality symbolizes the potential for personal growth and change, encouraging individuals to embrace new beginnings and let go of the past. The lizard is viewed as a guide that helps navigate through life's uncertainties, promoting adaptability and instinctual responses to challenges.
Many tribes consider encountering a lizard as a sign of good fortune, linking it to prosperity and survival in harsh environments. This connection emphasizes the lizard's role as a protector and a source of strength.
Invoking the Lizard spirit guardian can be beneficial for those seeking transformation or facing significant life changes. The lizard encourages individuals to release old habits that no longer serve them, facilitating personal reinvention. It inspires creativity and offers clarity in decision-making, particularly during times of uncertainty.
