Aq’ab’al Glyph: The glyph signifies the owl and represents the light and dark at the same time. The two circumferences at the top represent the energy of creation, and the dots below represent receptive energy. –Carlos Barrios
Aq’ab’al symbolizes both darkness and dawn, those magical times of the day when Night cedes to Day and Day gives way to Night. These are periods of transition, of grace, of potential–and polarity, which Aq’ab’al naturally embodies. It is light and dark, heat and cold, opposing sides and opposite energies.
Aq’ab’al embodies the essence of the love between a man and a woman, of marriage, romance and all matters of physical, spiritual, and emotional love.It also signifies harmony, truth, hope and solemnity; awakening and enchantment; mystery and devotion. It is the nawal of clarity and light, a force of renewal, and helps us gain illumination into the issues that impact our lives.–Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Today, the threads we’ve woven throughout the entire cycle of the B’atz Trecena are now illuminated by the first rays of Aq’ab’al – the clarifying nawal of hope, renewal, and revelation. As we wrap up this 13-day cycle, we may sense vibrations of redirection and renewal entering our lives.
Today, this may be guided by the spirit realms, so it’s important to remain receptive to signs and to know that it is through movement or action (13) that we may gain psychic insights and a refined perception from these higher realms.
13 Aq’ab’al sets the stage for the new Cholq’ij year; the new cloth of 260 days that begins soon, on 8 B’atz. Today’s message highlights the transition from darkness to light, or from unconscious to conscious, concept to materialization; a new dawn for ourselves that we’re co-creating into being. The threads of ideas, insights, and revelations we’ve gathered in this cycle are now culminating, weaving a tapestry of renewed understanding.
B’atz may have inspired creative problem-solving and innovation by painting over old aspects of ourselves with new colors and perspectives. Perhaps we’ve made a conscious choice to reinvent something in our lives, infusing it with greater unity, joy, and vibrancy.
Aq’ab’al also represents darkness – what we perceive as the negative aspects of existence. Yet, there’s always a little light in the night and a little shadow in the day, embodying the duality of this sign. 13 Aq’ab’al calls upon our higher self to be that first guiding light that illuminates our path, even through life’s challenges and puzzles.
If we feel overwhelmed or stuck somewhere, today’s a propitious moment to ask for light on the path and for hidden things to be discovered. It’s a good day to ask for light to be given to all things and to intentionally bring out the light of self-awareness in the process. Power 13 enhances the day with magic, reminding us to remain faithful and hopeful, trusting that even more insights and wisdom will emerge in the days to come.
Today teaches us to release the past, plan for the future, and navigate polarized situations with balance. As we conclude this trecena, may we reflect on how it has prepared us for greater freedom and the ability to harvest our intentions. This sets the stage for the Trecena of K’at, which begins tomorrow, bringing fertility and profound liberation.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
13 Aq’ab’al
Today, the day 13 Aq’ab’al represents the conception day of 8 B’atz, the reweaving of the world through the joining of the old fabric with the new.Aq’ab’al acts as a bridge between the dreaming potential of all that is, which we see in the nawal Imox, and the physical world. It has moved into our physical reality, but it is hidden within the mother. In some senses it is between the worlds, we cannot see it in its own right but we know it is there, we know the new life is on its way.
The number 13, of course, represents the world of the ancestors, the spirit world. When we combine this with the nawal Aq’ab’al we can begin to understand just how auspicious this day could be. 13 Aq’ab’al is the new conception into this world from the spirit world.
It can be seen as the passing of concepts from the ancestors into our new world. It gives us the pattern for the joining of the old world with the new.
This is a potent day to revisit ancestral teachings and understandings, to bring their concepts into modern life. –Mark Elmy
13 Aq’ab’al
In this cycle in which the 20 energies that shape this reality and which influence our life manifestations, today we absorb the energy of Ajaw 13 Aq’ab’al.“13 Aq’ab’al drank water, moistened the soil and modeled the body of the man.” -Chilam B’alam de Chumayel, Maya Yucatec Text
Ajaw Aq’ab’al is the light that emerges in the emptiness breaking the darkness, the light through which creation begins its awakening, its movement. That is the energy of Aq’ab’al, that first ray of light that illuminates us, it is for this reason that Aq’ab’al is the symbol of the dawn and the dusk.
This Ch’umil connects us to the energy of the past, the present, and the future; its purpose is to open a connection to the knowledge and experiences of all times as a tool for developing our own reality in harmony with creation.
The energy of this Ch’umil brings many opportunities and unexpected changes, it is the light that guides us to new places, to explore the unknown, but doing it under its guidance and protection.
It is that light that guides the path of our life and allows us to discover ourselves in the depths of our inner being, in the depths of the mystery of the universe and earth. Aq’ab’al is then that new sunrise, that awakening that brings us to our awareness and to become ourselves a ray of light that expands and illuminates. –Denise Barrios
Bat Spirit Animal:
“Changes”, “Navigating Darkness”, “Endings & Beginnings” “Acute Powers of Perception”
In many cultures bats are seen as guardians of the night, symbolizing the delicate balance between the seen and unseen realms. They teach us how to sense our environment and embrace all that life has to offer, reminding us that true understanding often arises from navigating the shadows.
While bats are often associated with death and the underworld due to their nocturnal nature, they also signify renewal and new beginnings, as they emerge from the protective womb of the Earth, symbolizing rebirth and the potential for growth.
In shamanic traditions, bat medicine is closely linked to the shaman's ability to traverse between worlds, representing both endings and beginnings. This duality encourages us to trust our psychic gifts and cultivate confidence in our intuition.
The bat's ability to navigate through darkness using echolocation serves as a powerful metaphor for our own journeys through uncertainty.
What new light or insight is emerging in my life, helping me transition out of an outdated version of myself and into a more vibrant, renewed self? How can I open myself to receive subtle cues and signs, allowing them to guide me into a deeper understanding of my path?
Mmmm loving this energy for ‘my new Gregorian year’! “13 Aq’ab’al drank water, moistened the soil and modeled the body of the man.” I mean, I’m in 😇😂
All kidding aside, this feels a bit like this year is a strengthening of my Aq’ab’al ‘in between worlds’ twin spirits/ancestors connection. David mentioned the ‘Telepathic tapes’ podcast in his live the other day, and I stopped listening to those halfway the second one. Partly because I got a headache from it, mostly because of the same reasons he said: I don’t need to hear people ‘proving’ with science telepathy exists. It does. And Aq’ab’al just knows and flies into the sunset 🦇✨🦹🏻♀️✨🌄
