Kan: Associated with the mystical Feathered Serpent, Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl, it is one of the most powerful day signs in the Cholq’ij.

As the Regent of the Sky and the Ruler of Time, Kan symbolizes the transformation of time, transcendence, peace, spiritual development and human evolution, and represents those predestined for spiritual vocations.

Yet it is also the lord of all material things and represents the concepts of work, autonomy, precaution, power, law, intelligence, and justice. As the nawal of education and training, it signifies the power that learning imparts to individuals and communities.

Kan, the evolutionary and animating force of the universe, is anchored into the material and foundational structures of reality on this potent day. 4 Kan brings integrity, stability, and the balancing strength of the four winds into transmutative processes, amplified by the dynamic changes sweeping in through the Trecena of Iq’.

Q’ukumatz, the feathered serpent, is the energy guiding this day—a force of agility, vivacity, truth, and wisdom that permeates our DNA and evolving journey through life. Mayan spirituality denotes that the energy of Q’ukumatz nurtures dialogue and reroutes our journey through the forces of communication. This marks a special day to materialize our ideas and intervene where necessary. It invites us to concentrate the strength of our entire being in our expression, and stabilize our relationships, projects, and goals into functional integrity.

The number 4 is considered to be on the calmer side of the trecena. However, it has very material properties. Thus, the earthly wisdom of Kan enters the everyday realm, bringing the body lightning very much into the body.

This could be seen as an Earth magic day, using primal energy to create physical stability. It can relate to the four sky serpents bringing the energy from the sky to the Earth.
