K’at: Within its vast body of meaning, K’at signifies the Net, in all of the diversity of senses of the word: a fisherman’s net, a woven net of fruits or vegetables, a network, a spider’s web.
In addition, it is the patron of storerooms and pantries and refers to the gathering of resources; and finally, it carries the concepts of captivity, punishment, social traps, and lawsuits.
K’at is the nawal of fire, namely that which keeps a home running, and of prisons both visible and invisible, material and intangible. –Brigitte Rasine
Diana’s Observations:
Today’s magnetic and unifying web of K’at intertwines with the symmetrical force of 8, embodying wholeness and the dynamic interplay between spirit and matter. This day presents opportunities to physically gather essential resources for our plans or, conversely, to become ensnared in burdens and complications. Within the Trecena of No’j, this alignment signifies a favorable time to resolve issues or to forge collaborative unions that may advance our plans, problem-solving, and enrichment of knowledge.
The net of K’at symbolizes our ability to unify perspectives, people, and resources, encompassing both tangible assets and immaterial elements such as memories, ideas, experiences, and lessons. These aspects reflect what we encounter on our life path—whether through our own actions or life’s fate—as opportunities for learning and growth. Today invites us not only to meditate on this collection, but also to express gratitude for both the blessings and challenges that this net has woven into our lives, cultivating self-development and growth.
One winal, or 20 days ago, we initiated the Trecena of K’at, a period characterized by fertility, abundance, entanglements, and liberation. Since then, we’ve been presented with opportunities to set intentions for harvesting our plans while also disentangling ourselves from excess weight or unnecessary burdens.
The placement of 8 K’at within the No’j Trecena encourages us to meditate on the obstacles we’ve successfully cleared since then and those that still require careful attention and delicate untangling. Prayers and rituals to enhance this process are supported today. With the guiding energy of No’j, we may find ourselves better equipped to assess the balance of our commitments, infusing this evaluation process with greater focus, patience, pragmatism, and prudence.
The key today is deep gratitude—a frequency that draws in the resources, ideas, and abilities needed to untangle the knots that limit our freedom. This gratitude can also be directed towards enhanced unity and higher knowledge within our networks, sustaining and replenishing the fires of our commitments and evolving ideas for the pulse of our larger community: family and society.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
8 K’at
It is a day of gathering, of seeds, of people, of ideas, and celebrating the abundance that these things bring to your life. The nawal K’at also represents capture, whilst the positive aspect represents harvest and abundance, the darker side represents entanglement and prisons. This is not just those outside of ourselves, but our ability to get caught in our own nets.
This is a representation of our own attachment to the physical things which sustain us within our physical body. Whilst this abundance might serve us well, over attachment to physical goods may distract us from our true life path. The same may be true for situations or people, it does not just have to be physical objects that create the net which holds us back.
K’at days give us an excellent opportunity to understand what is stopping us from achieving our dreams, and setting ourselves free of it.
Every day is a good day to be grateful for the abundance you receive in life, but today is of greater importance. It is a day on which ceremonies may be made to celebrate harvest and all that comes from it, to give thanks for the ability this gives us to fill the bellies of our families.
It is also a day to give thanks for your freedom and to release anything which is holding you back. Wholly embrace it or set it free. –Mark Elmy
8 K’at
To create something different in our lives, we must first believe in something different.Today, K’at emerges under the influence of No’j, the energy that guides this trecena, strengthening the power of our minds. On this day our thoughts carry a unique strength, especially affecting the physical and material realm, which is manifested by the number Wajxaqib’.
The energies of this day invite us to release the limitations our minds have created and to shape the reality we dream of. They remind us that healing starts within: to transform our physical bodies, we must heal our emotions; to attract abundance, we must feel abundant, full of gratitude; to create a reality filled with joy, we must nurture the thoughts that make us happy.
The work of transformation always begins within, from where all that we are expands outward. –Denise Barrios
Spider Spirit Animal:
“Creativity”, “Delicate Balance”, “Weaving Solutions”
Creative power is often associated with a yin quality, given the generative birthing power of the feminine. The spider’s delicate form holds within it the capacity to build out of itself a web.
The timing, design, and placement of what the spider weaves allows it to receive the abundance of the flow of life. There is an alchemical axiom to consider when called upon to tap into your creativity known as “ora et labora” – pray and labor. Spider medicine asks that we meditate into what we create so that a union of consciousness and the products of our labor will facilitate rapid and therapeutic growth.
This practice also opens the channel of synergy between oneself and the external creative genus to proliferate an intercourse of channeled artistry. –Brynja Magnusson
