Diana’s Observations:
Today, 5 Q'anil, we are reminded of the importance of diligent effort and dedication in nurturing our intentions, goals, and projects. As we journey through the Trecena of K'at, we’re guided to untangle ourselves from entrapments and burdens, while also intending on the abundance and liberation that comes with its harvest. This day reminds us that proportion and balance is crucial, emphasizing need for harmony between the seeds we plant and the fertile soil that supports their growth.
Within the K'at Trecena, Q'anil's fertile and abundant qualities are amplified today. The energy of 5 encourages us to be present in each step of our projects and developments, nurturing our plans with mindfulness, patience, and love, rather than rushing towards results.
Building on the foundational strength and equilibrium prompted by yesterday's 4 Kej, today's 5 Q'anil encourages us to apply discipline, focus, and careful consideration to the cultivation and regeneration of our future plans. It is a day to thoughtfully evaluate the sowing process, ensuring that we’re mindful of what we choose to nurture, starting with our thoughts.
K'at's influence guides us in gathering and utilizing resources effectively for growth, while Q'anil encourages awareness of what we're creating. Today is auspicious for dutifully assessing our investments of time, energy, and resources, ensuring balanced development and avoiding overcommitment that might lead to future entanglements. Just as we water our seeds with care, providing enough nourishment without over flooding them, we must strive for balance in our endeavors.
In its positive aspect, K'at's unity of social bonds and gathered resources enables us to attract true abundance, highlighting that this prosperity is nurtured through the harmonious union of diverse elements. Traditionally, this day is considered propitious for seeking well-being, harmony, and understanding, and for offering prayers for a fruitful sowing and a bountiful harvest.
This day resonates with the emotional and spiritual realization that may culminate on the last day of this Trecena, 13 Ajmaq. As 5 is the conception point of 13, and Q’anil is the conception sign of Ajmaq, the future energy of 13 Ajmaq is already drawing us toward profound self-discovery, guiding us to align our current efforts with the wisdom and insight that awaits us.
Observations by Mayan Spiritual Guides:
5 Q’anil
There are some days where using additional energy results in exhaustion as the energy of the day is not conducive. It might just feel that you are pushing against a brick wall, wasting your time or energy on something of no benefit.Today has the exact opposite energy. Today the energy put into your work or your project will be magnified by the fruitful and productive nawal Q’anil, bringing about the possibility of a great harvest in the future.
Be aware that the effort you put in to your work may not bring immediate results, you are setting a larger ripening process in motion. This is a day to enjoy the process, to look to the future abundance and allow nature to take its course. After all, the next appearance of the nawal Q’anil, in 20 days time, will be 12 Q’anil suggesting the gathering of the ripened crop.
From another point of view, Q’anil represents the bright shining light within the world, something often demonstrated by the people who carry this nawal. The day 5 Q’anil suggests that it may be a little challenging to be that light today, to be the light in the darkness. It is a day to work on brightening the world around you.
Whilst your effort may not be immediately rewarded, it will be multiplied as time progresses. –Mark Elmy
5 Q’anil
“5 Q’anil created the great sewer of the great lagoon of the sea.” -Chilam B’alam of Chumayel, Maya Yucatec text.Ajaw Q’anil is the seed. Let’s remember that everything that begins develops from this energy. We ourselves are a seed that was planted by our parents, the creation is a seed that was planted in the cosmos.
Our future is determined by the seeds we plant today, and our reality is created through the seeds we plant in our thoughts. This is the wonderful power of Q’anil, that of giving life, of being that seed that contains within itself everything it needs to sprout and flourish.
Depending on what we plant, on the love and dedication we put in caring for it, so will be the fruits that we will harvest in our life.
Q’anil also symbolizes the children who are the future of humanity, who are those offspring that we are taking care of today and who will plant the new world. Let’s nurture them with love, let’s transmit our knowledge to them, let’s teach them respect for Mother Earth, for all of creation, let’s give them tools to develop their whole potential.
In the same way, let’s plant in ourselves that new human being that is so necessary in these times of change. If we have the opportunity, let’s share our knowledge, let’s plant it in others to spread those positive seeds that flourish within us. –Denise Barrios
Rabbit Spirit Animal:
“New Beginnings”, “Sensitivity”, “Fertility”, “Regeneration”, “Intoxication”
Tochtli means rabbit and is the day in the Aztec calendar associated with the goddess Mayahuel the goddess of fertility, the womb, and maguey plant - used to brew alcoholic pulque drink.
Tochtli is mystical and communicates with nature. The rabbit was one of the most favored creatures of the Aztecs for hunting. It was identified with Chichimecs, the hunter-gatherers, and Mixcoatl, the god of the hunt. The rabbit was also an ancient Mesoamerican symbol for the moon.
Reflecting on Tochtli and its symbolism offers a window into an ancient philosophy where the cycles of the moon, the earth’s bounty, and human existence were inextricably linked, teaching us the value the Aztecs placed on harmony with the cosmos and the deep reverence for life’s generative forces.
Tochtli embodies the profound interplay between the Aztec cosmic understanding and their everyday life, capturing the essence of fertility, the sacredness of the natural world, and the nuanced role of divinity.
How can I cultivate my intentions with mindful effort, foresight, and patience? What balance can I strike between nurturing my projects and avoiding overcommitments and overexertion, allowing them to flourish naturally?
How beautiful and powerful, as always. Today was my daughter's first day of school. Before she was born I promised myself, she will not go to any school, rather to practice Unschooling/Homeschool, but wow...I love how children (if we allow them) can be great teachers. She asked us to go to school on November 2024, and with that came a revolution of our life... life also brought many circumstances that lead us to relearn things. Today was the first day of planting a seed I promised I'll never do (never say never) and I must say, I was reminded too of L´Hermite card, walking thru a path I don't really know, I barely see but lead by a fire of tenderness and trust. And I cried reading this: "Be aware that the effort you put in to your work may not bring immediate results, you are setting a larger ripening process in motion. This is a day to enjoy the process, to look to the future abundance and allow nature to take its course." The phrase from the movie -Captain Fanstastic- : "You are defined by your actions and not your words" also popped out during today's reflections, intertwined now by: "Our future is determined by the seeds we plant today, and our reality is created through the seeds we plant in our thoughts"... and I could go on, but i'm in tears for so many feelings today and specially after reading about today's energy, a beautiful whisper needed. Thank you always Diana for what you are doing in this space 🦋
I like this quote, Diana--"Today the energy put into your work or your project will be magnified by the fruitful and productive nawal Q’anil, bringing about the possibility of a great harvest in the future." I'd already mentally set aside this afternoon to buckle down and do writing.
